The programme was developed to assist in the treatment or prevention of corporate burnout, commonly known as ‘executive burnout’. The programme welcomes any individual for the prevention or recovery of burnout.
This is a burnout treatment AND pre-burnout prevention program to treat occupational exhaustion. The programme is designed to not only lead and support towards healing from burnout, but also to prevent burnout. We aim to develop ways of avoiding the repetitive cycle of exhaustion and other burnout features by engaging internal resources and growth of everyone to not return to that state of burnout again.
We do have limited capacity, therefore if you feel that you are experiencing burnout or the onset there-of, the sooner the better.
Our suggestion however would be to discuss this with your family and place of work, and to make all the necessary arrangements to ensure that you are able to take full advantage of the programme. (There will be time allowed over the program to connect with family and work)
The program is scheduled to start on a Monday at 12h00 and to end the Monday after next at 10h00. Guests are encouraged to arrive on a Monday and to depart on a Monday. If flights do not allow for this, we will assist with making arrangements for accommodation according to your flight schedule.
Stress is a common experience and state of alertness and readiness. It is experienced as a heightened state that operates below a threshold that would interfere with cognitive, physical, emotional, or behavioural functioning. Stress is usually situational and transient.
Anxiety is the experience of stress, but with particular symptoms, like racing heart, sweaty palms, a feeling of nervousness, hyper-alertness, shallow breathing, dry mouth, shakiness, and worry.
Depression is a negative mood, depressed feeling, or lack of pleasure, resulting in an inability to function the way one normally does. Depression could often be a natural result of long-term chronic stress, if not managed well.
Burnout is a work-based problem, as a result of chronic stressors leading to various self-experiences. Burnout manifests itself as the experience of deep exhaustion, disconnection, an imbalanced lifestyle, feeling overwhelmed and negativity about work. This often leads to decreased productivity. Burnout could lead to chronic and debilitating anxiety or depression if untreated.
We have an extension programme if the guest needs to stay for longer or require an extended process. Our professional team will arrange and discuss any further process and add to the individual needs.
If the partner is suffering burnout at the same time, we may accommodate both partners together. Relationships are the cornerstone of how we connect to ourselves and the world, therefore we encourage couples to join where both are feeling the fatigue and exhaustion of demands of life and corporate dynamics. The process belongs to the individual, therefore we request a certain amount of disconnection from everyday life, to allow for completion and a good outcome. We may arrange a parallel process and holiday at one of our places nearby, maybe to join each other for an extension after the two-week programme.
All the processes are individually focused. Although some of the activities, such as the nature walks or excursions will be done in a group, there will be no group process and interrelation dynamics. The emphasis of the process and programme is on the individual.
We believe that you should be able to connect to family and work. High-level occupations may require regular check-ins or some contact with work, so we understand and will support you to connect.
However, certain processes require a digital free period, and we will maintain digital-free zones in common areas, such as dining areas and around the boma. We also encourage all participants to have digital-free periods and to attempt contact and use of digital equipment only when necessary. The purpose of the programme is to assist in managing a work-life balance, while learning to develop healthy lifestyle habits.
We also encourage you help to make full use of the programme, to disconnect from stressors, and to enjoy the silence of nature.
The programme approach is holistic in dealing with burnout which is supported by a medical screening; however, any incidental medical requirements beyond the scope of the programme will be consensually discussed and individualised to the guest.
We have an extensive network of specialist doctors and services to ensure you receive the best medical care and advice, in accordance with best medical practice to ensure optimal growth, healing and health.
Due to the nature of burnout, and the road leading to burnout, many people begin to suffer the effects of chronic stress. This most often leads to lifestyle difficulties and chronic physical complaints, such as insulin resistance, becoming overweight or obese, fatty liver and increased cholesterol.
Our weight-loss process is an optional extra using scientific and medical advances that lead to optimal and healthy weight-loss during the program. We use a balanced approach to initiate your journey to healthy eating and weight-loss. You may enjoy a normal diet with a few minor changes with the aid of health-enhancing medication under the guidance of our medical team.
